$29M Electrocution Settlement
Palo Alto Man wins $29M Lawsuit Starts Company After Accident

Timothy G. Tietjen is an experienced civil litigation attorney specializing in the representation of catastrophically injured persons and their families.  Born in Oakland, California, Mr. Tietjen worked his way through college and law school graduating from the University of San Francisco Law School in 1982.  While in law school, he earned the prestigious American Jurisprudence Award in Torts, and clerked for Judge Ira Brown, a prominent and highly respected San Francisco Judge.

Upon graduating from law school, Mr. Tietjen's goal was to work in the field of plaintiff's personal injury.  He began his career briefly working for the insurance defense industry to learn the inner workings of his opponents.  In 1983, Mr. Tietjen joined the law offices of Ronald H. Rouda which 5 years later became the law offices of Rouda, Feder & Tietjen.

Throughout his 25 year career, Mr. Tietjen has developed an outstanding track record for obtaining consistently excellent results for his clients.  He has tried several cases which have resulted in multimillion dollars verdicts.  In addition, Mr. Tietjen has also secured numerous seven (7) figure settlements for his clients.

In 2007, Mr. Tietjen had the distinction of obtaining a $29 million dollar settlement for a worker injured in an electrocution accident.  This is one of the largest recoveries ever secured in California for an injured worker.  Mr. Tietjen took particular pride in this accomplishment as several other attorneys turned down this potential case because of its difficulty and complexity.

In 1999, Mr. Tietjen served as President of the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association.  He has been given the highest rating for ability and ethics (AV rated) by the legal rating service of Martindale-Hubbell.  Mr. Tietjen has also been repeatedly recognized as a California Super Lawyer, a distinction awarded to the top 5% of California lawyers.

Over the years, Mr. Tietjen's case results have been reported in a wide range of periodicals, journals, and newspapers.  In 2001, a featured article was written about Mr. Tietjen in the San Francisco Trial Lawyer magazine showcasing his skills in cross-examining defense experts.

Mr. Tietjen is proud to represent seriously injured workers and their families.  Coming from a blue-collar background, he understands that the financial wellbeing of his clients and their families often rest in his hands, and he takes this responsibility seriously.  Mr. Tietjen has dedicated himself to obtaining the best possible results for his clients.  As a result, Mr. Tietjen has developed a well earned reputation as one of the top personal injury attorneys in the State of California.

Many of Mr. Tietjen's referrals come from former clients, and opposing defense attorneys who have recognized first hand his professional skills.  Mr. Tietjen welcomes the referrals of serious personal injury cases, and the opportunity to represent those in need of his services.

Mr. Tietjen has also lectured extensively on a wide range of topics for the San Francisco Trial Lawyers Association and Consumer Attorneys of California:
